October 17, 2017
For the fifth and penultimate round of the series, the BMW Virtual Racing Cup headed to Zandvoort for another round in the Dutch dunes. With Schein having won every race so far, Gualtieri was hungry to grab his first victory of the season as he came closer and closer each round. With the title in sight, the leader in the championship couldn't afford to lose any valuable points. With a 1.48.816, Schein grabbed pole once again but only with a margin of 0,1s on Gualtieri. Quintelier put down his best result of the season in qualifying with the third time.
At the start of the race, Schein got the best getaway and made good advantage of his pole position to keep the upcoming Gualtieri behind him. Further down the field, Nelson de Bruijn was fighting for the final podium spot with Bart Decoutere. After the pitstops, Schein could rejoin the pack as leader, but the final stage of the race would be thrilling. With two laps to go, Gualtieri was on glued to Schein's bumper as he made his move to grab first place. Schein, who is looking comfortable for the title in the championship and a test in a BMW Clubsport Trophy racecar, couldn't hold of Gualtieri any longer and had to settle for 2nd.
The final podium position went to Nelson De Bruijn, who managed to hold of Bart Decoutere during the 34 lap long race. Gianni Quintelier had some bad luck at the start, but eventually managed to finish in 5th place, affront of Jeromy Hessels and Robbie Bouchoms.
The final race of the season will be on thursday 19th of october at Spa.
